The Development Facets of the Digital Financial Assets Market in the Russian Federation

Abstract

The development of the digital financial assets market in various directions is considered, from the perspective of different types of participants. Based on specific examples, transactions with several types of digital financial assets are shown. Quarterly performance indicators of domestic information system operators have been studied. The study was conducted using systematic, analytical and statistical methods based on data published in open sources. The factors stimulating and hindering the growth and development of the financial market sector under study are highlighted. Estimates of the attractiveness of digital financial assets from the issuer and investor are given, and the processes of issuance, purchase, and sale are characterized. Digital financial assets open up not only technological but also innovative opportunities, extending to intellectual property, real estate, commodities, and more. However, it is noted that the country still has an uneven distribution of the market among information system operators and digital financial asset issuers. Steady experience of working with such assets is only accumulating, typical techniques have not yet been established in business circulation. The volume of judicial practice is insufficient, and the development of international cooperation in this area is in the formative stages. However, the growth of the market is provided by the ever-increasing interest from institutional and retail investors.
